Her research thesis involved novel early DNA detection techniques for human papillomavirus. This work was awarded the Searle-Donald Richardson Award at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology meeting in San Francisco in 1990.

Prior to joining Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center, Dr. Bartholomew was program director of the residency program at West Virginia University-Charleston. My care provider did not show any concern for me or my healthcare during the visit. I was not informed of what would be happening (I STILL don't know what happened), she neglected to tell me any care instructions (which, on my mychart, she said she did. I had to find the care instructions from my after-visit summary). I was crying and shaking a lot during the procedure, and my care provider got mad that she couldn't see.
