I am a general obstetrician gynecologist and professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I have dual board certification in anatomic pathology and obstetrics and gynecology.
I joined the faculty at Ohio State in 1998 as an associate professor. My clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology. I practice at Stoneridge Obstetrics and Gynecology.
I was one of the first gynecologists to include robotic surgery in my minimally invasive surgery skills. I developed a regional Vulvar Clinic at Ohio State which provides care to women from Ohio and surrounding states with vulvar disease.
I was honored with an invitation to join the International Society of Vulvar Vaginal Disease (ISSVD) after presenting my research in the treatment of vulvodynia with gabapentin. I am the president-elect of the North American chapter of the ISSVD. My platform will be development of a multidisciplinary curriculum for residents.
I attended the Medical College of Virginia with an Armed Forces Health Professions full scholarship. I graduated in 1983 and went on to complete my obstetrics and gynecology residency at the David Grant USAF residency program in California. I was awarded a sponsored Obstetrics and Gynecologic Pathology fellowship and a second residency in anatomic pathology at the University of California-Davis. My research thesis involved novel early DNA detection techniques for human papillomavirus. This work was awarded the Searle-Donald Richardson Award at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology meeting in San Francisco in 1990.
Prior to joining Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center, I was program director of the residency program at West Virginia University-Charleston. I also served in the Air Force as a physician for six years at a large AF teaching hospital, Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. I was the chief of gynecology and gynecologic pathology, achieved the rank of Lt. Col and was honorably discharged with multiple commendations. A veteran of Desert Storm, I was on mobility for rapid deployment with the Air Transportable Hospital.
Please note: Not all physicians schedule patients at each listed location.
My interest in pathology is evident in my commitment to resident education in the field of colposcopy and cervical pathology. I was awarded the Colposcopy Recognition Award by the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Current research areas include HPV DNA detection techniques and HPV vaccines. I have received multiple teaching awards including the APGO Excellence in Medical Education Award, and the CREOG National Faculty Award.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Dr Bartholomew is always kind, concerned for my overall health and professional.
Didn't give me any instructions on how to treat, prevent, get rid of my diagnosis just simply stated what it was and left
Care provider was very informative and answered my questions.
Through your all my appointments, she was thorough in explaining and helping me understand my health issues and what tests/procedures I needed. My special thanks to her for the wonderful care I received pre and post surgery.
Rude, did not address my current concerns, told me how I should be feeling about things, did not explain why I needed additional testing, did not go over my pathology report with me
