Much of my clinical work is in treating genitourinary cancers and gynecologic cancers. I have extensive experience in performing brachytherapy procedures for both men with prostate cancer and women with advanced gynecologic cancers (cervical, endometrial, vulvar or vaginal cancer). I have performed more than 800 prostate seed implants and a similar number of gynecologic brachytherapy procedures. I also have significant experience in delivering image guided external beam radiation therapy with implanted markers or Calypso, a technology that tracks the tumor during treatment delivery.
In addition to my clinical interests, I am very active in several roles working to improve the quality and safety of medical care delivery. I am currently the Chair of the Ohio State University Radiation Safety committee, serve on several medical center committees that oversee credentialing and quality and safety measures. Nationally, I am a committee member for the American Society for Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation Committee developing guidelines and evaluating radiation oncology departments across the country.
I am honored to be able to work at The James and collaborate with our amazing staff and faculty.

News about me
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 03/25/2016, Dr. Martin has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
