About Me

As a certified nurse midwife, I treat patients from their teenage years through menopause. I specialize in pregnancy and childbirth, as well as birth control counseling. I also provide overall wellness and preventive care. I am passionate about improving outcomes for traditionally underserved populations and have been involved with the Moms2B program here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I love working in academic medicine because of the opportunities for interdepartmental collaboration and the commitment to evidence-based care, which strongly benefits our patients.

No two pregnancies or births are the same. My patients can expect individualized care plans when they come to see me, and can rely on me to listen to their concerns and advocate on their behalf. I prioritize fostering trusting relationships with my patients and I strive to empower each of them to take an active role in their health care journeys.

I have worked with patients across diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in a variety of health care settings. I have witnessed that pregnancy and birth is a transformative time for every patient, no matter their background. I love that I have a unique ability to help guide and empower patients through such a life-changing experience.

In addition to my clinical work, I am active in research opportunities. I have worked on published research projects that studied the safety of water birth, as well as hydrotherapy during labor and delivery. I also teach medical students about midwifery care.

When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, entertaining and traveling with my family.

The midwives are the best. I feel safe and seen by them every single time.

Beth austin is by far the nicest medical provider I have had in years!

She was helpful in explaining what she was doing and why. She was friendly.

Very rushed throughout the entire visit. She was speaking so quickly at points that I felt I was missing things. Her answers to my questions were curt to the point of dismissiveness. I had additional questions that I did not feel comfortable asking because I felt so unwelcome. One of the things I was hoping to learn this visit was more about the difference delivering with the midwives and doctors, she just told me I would be delivering in the same location. I read contradictory information in the brochure (which was not explained to me at all), so I'm very confused now. I scheduled my next check in with a different provider and am hoping to have a better time experience, otherwise I'll be looking at other care options. Not a good experience for a first-time mom.

She listens, provides easy-to-understand information, she spent enough time with me. She is nice and very easy to talk to. I was very pleased with the service. I loved that she wasn't late.

This provider is always reassuringly well informed and a great communicator - very good at distilling information & ordered extra ultrasound due to COVID in pregnancy. I left feeling relieved that all bases were being covered but not additionally stressed.
