Biography
As a cardiologist, I provide preventative management and treatment for diseases affecting the heart, arteries and veins. My goal is to help my patients overcome their illness, and nothing makes me happier than helping them achieve a better quality of life and well-being. I ensure a friendly, respectful environment and a patient-centered care model founded on a strong patient-physician relationship.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because it is home to the best cardiovascular disease division I have ever seen. There is great strength in the connection we share in providing quality health care, which really expresses itself through the supportiveness of my colleagues. I am also passionate about educating our fellows and ensuring a legacy of compassion.
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Gbemiga Sofowora has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Outstanding and informative
Straight to the point of my care and need
Thee best! I have never met a Dr who truly cared for his patient as Dr Sofowara! He even called in the evening to make sure I was good! Excellent Doctor and very well educated in his field. He goes beyond the call of duty for his patients!!
If I have Any questions he always gives examples on how I could do better. That's great!
Such a kind and knowledgeable doctor.
He was a great listener, and extremely confident in his effort to help me.
Goes above and beyond with my care
Always enjoy talking with Dr. G Sofowora. He's very professional and listens and explains clearly so that I understand.
Just normal
Excellent! Listened carefully to my questions and concerns and addressed them thoroughly.
Good
I think this is the first doctor I've seen in my adult life who actually read the medical record before walking into the room! Amazing!
Approximately an hour late, stated that his opinion was the only one which mattered, repeated questions we (my wife & I) answered earlier in the appointment. He also did not seem to be prepared for my appt.
