Helen received her bachelor of nursing degree from The Ohio State University. While in nursing school, she discovered her love of women’s health and chose to pursue a career as a nurse-midwife. Helen completed her master’s degree at Vanderbilt University with a focus on midwifery and family nursing, and then her PhD from Ohio State. She has worked in bedside nursing, primary care, retail health care and most recently as an inpatient certified nurse midwife (CNM) at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. She works to build meaningful relationships with the families that she interacts with and provide them with supportive personalized care.
Helen is honored to be part of the midwifery care team at Ohio State. Her research interests lie in understanding and decreasing disparate health outcomes for minority women.

I have always loved my visits with the midwives! Helen has always been one of my favorites. She listens to all of my concerns and makes me feel heard.

My apt with Helen was the best ob/gyn apt I've ever experienced. She was very kind, listened to me, and educated me. She gave me choices that I didn't even know I could have. I will definitely try to see her more often!

Always the best listener, she always reassures me of my questions and concerns. She takes the time to explain things to me that I have questions about. She always allows me to listen to my baby's heartbeat for a respectable amount of time which means a lot to me.
She was good, but she let the nurse do the majority of the exam. I was a bit upset and felt she didn't take my concerns about my health seriously, trying to explain away every symptom that I was experiencing. I just wanted someone to listen to me and examine me to figure out why I was having these symptoms instead of saying that it's probably something else.
I sort of got the impression that they thought annual checkups were silly and that I shouldn't be so prompt with my appointments.
She has set a new standard for me for this type of care. I am very grateful for her.

Because this was my first visit to OSU Wexner I didn't know what to expect. My provider was very attentive and conversational about what my goals for my health were and put me at ease.
