Biography

I find neuro-ophthalmology endlessly fascinating. So much of our brain is dedicated to our visual senses, which means that any pathology affecting the brain has a high likelihood of impacting our vision as well. I enjoy the process of carefully gathering a patient’s history, performing a complex and thorough exam, and piecing together my findings with their experiences to (hopefully) solve the puzzle of their visual impairment. When appropriate and necessary, I also perform surgery to correct ocular misalignment.

I listen to my patients carefully to elicit every meaningful detail possible that can help us figure out how to improve their vision. I prioritize my patients’ needs and make sure they feel heard. Apart from speaking with patients, I’m a physician who’s passionate about lifelong learning and the relentless pursuit of self-improvement – both in the clinic and in the operating room. I’m also interested in getting involved with clinical research for optic nerve disorders, optic disc anomalies, optic neuritis and neuropathy, optic disc edema, nystagmus and strabismus.

I did my medical training here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and I’m proud to return as an attending. The collaborative environment, the seamless multidisciplinary care, and access to state-of-the-art imaging and testing technologies in ophthalmology help us make a difference in our patients’ lives. By working at the medical center, I also hope to further the clinical education of our talented ophthalmology residents and to continue to learn from them.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, and our Great Pyrenees, Lucille. I also invest time in hobbies such as cycling, hiking, playing golf and cooking (and eating).
