I am a reconstructive urologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center specializing in caring for patients who sustained loss of urinary and genital function after trauma or cancer treatments. I am an expert in reconstructive urologic surgery and genitourinary trauma.
I treat a variety of conditions including incontinence, erectile dysfunction, urethral strictures, ureteral strictures, radiation injuries and devastated bladder. I also provide surgical options for buried penis and perform minimally invasive surgeries.
I have extensive expertise in treating male stress urinary continence by using the AMS 800™ Artificial Urinary Sphincter, which is considered the gold standard device for treating male stress urinary continence. My practice has been designated as an AMS 800 Artificial Urinary Sphincter Center of Excellence, which recognizes high success rates and positive patient outcomes. I am committed to continuously educating patients and the community about male urinary incontinence and available treatment options.
As a reconstructive urologist, I have a unique opportunity to support and empower people through some of the most vulnerable stages of their disease process. I am passionate about doing all I can to help restore each person’s quality of life, and my patients can expect compassion and empathy in every encounter. I believe in a comprehensive approach to care and always tailor treatment plans to the patient’s specific needs and values.
It’s a privilege to practice alongside such exceptional multidisciplinary experts here at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, and to offer the best care possible to our patients.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Had full confidence in my care provider because of his knowledge, expertise and experience
He was great, receptive and knowledgeable.
Very friendly and really researched my medical history and notes from other providers.
Helpful and made visit as ease. Describe about medical management
Outstanding doctor. Knowledgeable, professional & helpful. Really know his field and was willing to help me.
Good
He is very familiar with my medical history, asked a lot of questions about my condition, was very thorough and personable.
Good
Dr. Patel had to deliver concerning news. He was extremely compassionate. I felt seen as a person, not just a patient.
Could explain upcoming procedure more accurately.
Dr. Patel was great at explaining things on a level I could understand. He clearly explained the benefits and drawbacks of each option.
Very kind and answered the test question
I would never recommend this provider for your ostomy surgery. Did not visit pre-op the day of surgery and he was the attending. The resident that was performing the surgery never visited pre-op. Still can't get a real complete solid answer as to why the place in the stoma is in such an awkward position according to other doctors and nurses and how it disrupts my life. I don't feel like I'm being listened to at all
Dr. Patel is Wonderful, he's passionate about his scope of practice. He listens, and answers all questions both professionally and compassionately. I only wish I could have shook his hand, as I have been a hugger my entire life.He has a wonderful heart and soul.Gives off excellent energy, and he's caring.I'm so happy I no longer have to carry napkins, and a portable urinal. The last two weeks before surgery I wasn't sure I was capable of taking anymore. As I had nocturnal urea, which is not only humiliating, but embarrassing as well.I can't possibly express how amazing it is to have as much control, as I presently do.Thank you so much, as well as the other attending surgeon, and entire surgical team.My care for overstay was very appreciated as well.
Very impressive
They are awesome!
