About Me
I am committed to providing innovative and compassionate care to individuals with mental illness. My special interest is in treating people experiencing a psychotic episode for the first time. With effective treatment, it is possible to help people recover and return to optimum potential.
I treat every patient like a member of my family, and strive to provide a soothing and accepting environment where patients are able to connect and be heard. I form a partnership with my patients and their families to develop a personalized treatment plan that best meets their individual needs.
One of my passions is teaching residents and students at Ohio State. While working here, I have been recognized for my work with the Excellence in Teaching Award 2007; Outstanding Faculty Award 2008; Outstanding Faculty Award 2011 and Faculty Teaching Award 2012. I was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2013.
In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and I am active in my local church. I am married and have two sons.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Guirgis has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
