Biography

As a family physician, I believe in providing care that is patient-centered, evidence-based and focuses on primary prevention of illness as the root of health. My role allows me to build long-lasting relationships with patients and their families in which I can see changes over time to ensure my patients' needs are being met. With each case, I try to provide cost-conscious and cost-efficient patient care.

I joined the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2019. Here at Ohio State, I am privileged to work with world-class physicians and educators who help make a positive impact on all my patients. Additionally, my patients have access to outstanding resources in the Ohio State network such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, pharmacy and social work.

I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay area but have lived in Columbus for seven years. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, golfing, watching Cal football, traveling and spending time with my wife Shauna (a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's Hospital) and young daughter.

    All good

Hands down, Dr. Schord is the best GP I've ever had, and I'm grateful for his attention to my care. He is knowledgeable and considerate, and he's thoughtful and deliberate in how he makes decisions about my care. He's transparent about his reasoning and rationale, which I very much appreciate. He talks about issues in ways that are easy to understand, but I never feel like he's dumbing things down for me. I know that I can ask him any question -in person or via MyChart -and I'll get an honest and prompt response. I trust him -- and he's earned that trust with every visit. He is one of OSU's very best. Please clone him if you can. We need more doctors like him in family medicine.
