About Me

As a family physician, I believe in providing care that is patient-centered, evidence-based and focuses on primary prevention of illness as the root of health. My role allows me to build long-lasting relationships with patients and their families in which I can see changes over time to ensure my patients' needs are being met. With each case, I try to provide cost-conscious and cost-efficient patient care.

I joined the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2019. Here at Ohio State, I am privileged to work with world-class physicians and educators who help make a positive impact on all my patients. Additionally, my patients have access to outstanding resources in the Ohio State network such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, pharmacy and social work.

Besides providing excellent primary care to patients, I work with medical students as a volunteer at an Ohio State clinic where I provide personal instruction and supervision.

I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay area but have lived in Columbus for seven years. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, golfing, watching Cal football, traveling and spending time with my wife Shauna (a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's Hospital) and young daughter.

I highly value Dr. Schord as my primary doctor. He always takes plenty of time with me and explains things thoroughly and answers my questions. He covers the full range of my health concerns and is very knowledgeable about my history and about the best ways to treat my conditions and is on top of current practices in the medical field. I'm always very impressed by him and he's the best doctor I've ever had.

My provider listened to me and took my concerns seriously. He worked together with me to make a plan for my care and explained everything very thoroughly. Couldn't be happier with the care.

Dr Schord is an amazing doctor. He always listens to my concerns and I feel that my well- ring is his number one concern. Thank you

This was my first experience with Dr. Schord. I transferred my medical care to him from another physician (at a non-OSU practice) because Dr. Schord was highly recommended by several friends. As a gay man it was important for me to find a physician who supported LGBTQ patients. Dr. Schord is very sensitive to my needs and issues, and has a lot of experience treating people in my community.

Dr. Schord is great. He is very thoughtful and explains things really well. He has been my PCP for a few years now and he always remembers the things we talked about and is proactive in addressing any concerns I have. He is also really clear with me about any time he may or may not be the best expert to answer a question; for example "Well, here is my opinion on (fill in the blank), but that is not my area of expertise, so I would refer you to the sleep clinic for a more informed answer."
