About Me
As a trauma surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in complex surgical problems. My role involves caring for the sickest patients in their most vulnerable moments, and I strive every day to make a positive difference for each of them.
In addition, I manage a translational research team dedicated to providing the most innovative technologies and techniques to our patients. My team and I use our academic studies in the lab to directly modify and enhance treatments to ensure our patients receive the most advanced therapies possible.
I have received independent funding through the National Institutes of Health to support my research. My work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and I was honored to receive a Research and Education Award from the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST).
My role includes helping to educate the next generation of surgeon–scientists. I am the associate director of The Ohio State University Department of Surgery’s Professional Development and Research Training Program (RTP), which “prepares surgical trainees through personalized research education, mentorship and career development.” I am also an associate professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Wisler has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
