About Me
As a palliative medicine specialist, I help patients with pain and symptoms associated with their cancer or cancer treatments. I also counsel patients and families during difficult decisions involving their medical care. My goal is to support patients during all phases of their life after cancer diagnosis.
Palliative medicine at The James is unique in that we work closely with cancer specialists on a daily basis in order to provide patients with an extra layer of support during cancer treatment and surveillance. Through this collaboration, patients are able to see members of their cancer team communicating and working together to optimize quality of life. I enjoy the sense of teamwork among physicians, nurses and medical staff as we work toward a common goal of supporting patients during their cancer experience.
In addition to my clinical work, I am an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I also serve as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Palliative Medicine and have presented at national conferences sponsored by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American College of Physicians.
