About Me
As a rheumatologist, I specialize in caring for patients with various autoimmune diseases and conditions that cause inflammation in the muscles, joints and bones. My goal is always to help reduce each patient’s pain levels and improve their quality of life.
I chose to advance my career in academic medicine because of the opportunity to handle the most complex cases. I appreciate the commitment to teamwork here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, both within rheumatology and within other specialties. This comprehensive approach lets us offer the most thoughtful and well-rounded care to our patients.
I enjoy my job because it fuels my curiosity. I’m able to work alongside other experts at the top of their fields and constantly learn new things. The opportunity to use this knowledge to take care of others is deeply rewarding.
I am also passionate about working with trainees and serving as a mentor, which was another reason I stayed in academic medicine. The responsibility of educating others pushes me to be a better physician, role model and human. The excitement and enthusiasm that medical students, residents and fellows exude in their approach to patient care is refreshing, motivating, and inspiring.
In addition to my clinical and educational roles, I am also actively involved with the American College of Rheumatology. I serve on its Collaborative Initiatives subcommittee.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Yates has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
She was excellent! She explained everything to me very well she also listened to everything I had to say
She was awesome. She explained my condition and plan for it. Answered all questions.
All excellent
Dr. Yates was excellent. She came in the room after she studied my records. She knew much of my medical history and asked me questions about things that were not sent from other physicians. She was so kind.

It was a great visit
Excellent doctor. One of the best providers that I have.
Good connection, feel like she understands and has knowledge and skills to help me
Excellent
I wish every doctor could be like her. I have been having issues for over 10years and she gave me answers and was honest and I wish she could be my only doctor. Sadly I'm not used to getting such great care and understanding but most importantly I have answers and a diagnosis that has taken me years to get. I can't praise her enough. You have a great doctor there you better hang onto that one at any cost
New provider since mine was no longer with the practice. She was up to date and had read my charts, was very knowledgeable
Over and beyond exceptional
I can not explain how grateful I am to have seen Dr. Yates, after suffering several years with my condition, multiple times I was misdiagnosed, I saw so many doctors with no clear answers which has lead me to have medical debt and feeling so depleted and very depressed. I was very shocked to see how long she sat and listened to me. After leaving I finally feel like there is hope that I can regain my independence, to be able to finally live the life I used to before my illness, I can not thank her enough!!!
Courteous and knowledgeable
She took her time getting to know my and my concerns. I even had an addiction Al question when my lab results posted in MyChart and she answered promptly! I really appreciate that!
Una experiencia muy buena
