Biography
I’m a nurse practitioner working within the neurology department. In particular, I work with patients who need neuro intensive care, such as acute neuro surgery or treatment of brain cancer, acute stroke, spine surgery and arteriovenous malformation (AVM). As a nurse practitioner, I have the opportunity to collaborate with other leaders to make sure our patients receive the best care possible.
In 2015, I published an article within the Austin Journal of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine entitled 'Refocusing to Outpatient Burn Care.' In 2013, I was featured in the Women’s Place at Ohio State article that highlighted women working in the fields of Science Technology, Engineering and Medicine. In 2014 and 2015, I was named as one of the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Finalist. The OSUCCC – James works with the best that the medical profession has to offer, and I strive to be the best that I can in my field every day.
Throughout my time at The James, I have learned that every interaction with patients counts. We focus on patient-centered, targeted care plans that are tailored to the needs of each patient. No two cancers are the same, and we want to be sure that our patients are receiving the best care possible. I remind myself before meeting every patient that this is a new experience for them, and I try to both educate and treat them in order to make sure they’re prepared for the road ahead.
