Biography
I am a transplant hepatologist and the co-director of the living liver donor program at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My role also includes serving as a clinical professor of Internal Medicine. My vast clinical experience includes caring for patients before, during, and after they undergo a liver transplant, and treating a wide variety of liver diseases including hepatitis and autoimmune and metabolic conditions.??
My philosophy as a clinician is to provide my patients with compassionate care that is tailored to their individual needs and values. I believe that care should be provided with empathy and in a humble manner. I also believe in treating my patients as if they were my own brother, sister or parent.?
I have special expertise in treating cirrhosis caused by a variety of etiologies including alcohol abuse and metabolic-dysfunction associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). I take care of patients across all stages of cirrhosis and address complications associated with it, including ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, liver cancer, portal hypertension, and hepato-renal syndrome.?

My research interests are focused on improving outcomes for patients with liver diseases and advancing liver transplant care. I have published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and am regularly invited to present my research at national and international conferences. I have been recognized with multiple research rewards from organizations such as the American Association for Study of Liver Disease, the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver, and the European Association for Study of Liver.?
I am proud to help lead our phenomenal efforts to improve patient care here at The Ohio State University. I am the Director of Research for the section of Hepatology. I also serve on multiple committees including the Institutional Review Board, the Medical College Admission Committee, and the College of Medicine Tenure and Promotion committee.?
I have experience working in multiple diverse health care systems across the world, but nothing compares to Ohio State’s culture of excellence and the good-natured atmosphere that my colleagues create. What I enjoy most about working here is our ability to give patients highly specialized multidisciplinary care and access to a variety of optimal services. These services include advanced imaging and endoscopy, surgery, nutrition and other medical specialties.?
When I’m not working, I like to spend my free time relaxing with my family, watching or playing cricket, traveling, reading, watching movies, enjoying the outdoors.
