Biography

I am Kylie Shockley, MD, and at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in palliative medicine for people living with cancer. My practice focuses on helping patients manage cancer-related symptoms, supporting patients through complex medical decisions, and helping them maintain the best possible quality of life throughout their cancer journeys.

I care for patients experiencing the physical and emotional effects of cancer and cancer treatment. This includes helping manage symptoms such as cancer-related pain, anxiety and nausea while working closely with a patient's oncology team and other specialists. My goals are to treat the whole person, not just the disease, and to provide compassionate, individualized care aligned with each patient's values, priorities and goals.

I believe that every patient's experience with cancer is unique and that medical decisions should reflect an individual's specific circumstances and wishes. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and a team-based approach to care, I help patients and their families navigate difficult decisions, understand their options and feel supported throughout the course of treatment.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is building meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones over time. It is a privilege to support the patients by helping them manage symptoms, maintain comfort and achieve the highest possible quality of life.

Consulting and related relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
