About Me
I am an emergency general surgeon who is passionate about providing exceptional care for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. I commonly treat bowel and gallbladder diseases, hernias, pilonidal cyst disease and acute traumatic injuries. Whenever possible, I incorporate minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques that improve patient outcomes.
My patients can expect an evidence-based approach tailored to their individual needs and values. I am dedicated to lifelong learning so that I can always offer the best, most innovative treatments possible.
Having a career in medicine is an honor and privilege, and I prioritize establishing trust with each patient. I chose to specialize in emergency general surgery because I love the technical aspects and the quick pace, and because it pushes me every day to be a well-rounded physician.
I chose to return to academic medicine because I enjoy educating medical students and residents. Preparing the next generation of physicians is one of the most important contributions I can make. In addition, seeing medicine through the eyes of trainees always gets me excited about the work that I do.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Stepp has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
