About Me
I am a board-certified nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for patients with epilepsy. I commonly treat complex epilepsy syndromes and manage patients with implanted devices such as the vagus nerve stimulator (VNS), which assists with seizure control. I am especially passionate about helping expectant mothers with epilepsy have safe and healthy pregnancies.
It is an honor and a privilege to care for patients and families with epilepsy, which can be an extraordinarily complex condition. This specialty requires careful consideration of appropriate medical management, and incorporating interventions associated with related psychosocial issues. I am highly motivated to help enhance each patient’s quality of life, and every person who comes to see me can trust that they will receive customized care tailored to their unique needs.
I was the first specialized outpatient neurology nurse practitioner and I am proud to serve as the lead outpatient neurology advanced practice provider (APP). My role includes individualizing training opportunities, mentoring fellow colleagues and ensuring that our APPs are working at the top of their license. This approach ensures that we maintain excellent standards and the highest quality of patient care.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am involved with clinical research projects focused on improving the lives of patients with epilepsy. I have published peer-reviewed nursing and medical articles, serve as a reviewer for related journals, and have received awards for my efforts. I have also shared my research at multiple national meetings and at the International League Against Epilepsy Congress.
My role also includes precepting and mentoring nursing, pharmacy and medical students. In addition, I am involved in international initiatives and serve as the USA Lead Contact for the North America Section of the International League Against Epilepsy.
