Biography
I provide comprehensive cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling for individuals and families with a personal and/or family history of cancer. My clinical interests focus on hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes, and I have expertise in hereditary diffuse gastric cancer and polyposis syndromes.
My cancer genetics consultations include detailed documentation of family history, personalized risk assessment, screening recommendations, and genetic testing when appropriate.
Research Interests
My research explores the genetic basis of hereditary gastrointestinal cancers, with a particular emphasis on hereditary diffuse gastric cancer and polyposis syndromes. I am recognized for my expertise in CDH1- and CTNNA1-associated disorders and lead efforts to develop variant classification standards, define genotype-phenotype relationships, and enhance clinical care for affected individuals.
At The Ohio State University, I serve as the principal investigator for a national registry titled CDH1-associated Blepharocheilodontic Syndrome (BCDS). This initiative aims to better define the clinical features of BCDS and investigate whether CDH1 variants linked to this condition may also increase cancer risk.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Maegan Roberts has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
