About Me
I am a nurse practitioner who specializes in working with outpatients in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I regularly care for patients with conditions such as autoimmune liver disease, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, cirrhosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
I believe in establishing a collaborative relationship with each patient. When patients come to see me, they can trust I will educate them about their diagnosis and treatment options and do everything I can to improve their quality of life.
I’m passionate about delivering the highest quality of care and I appreciate the resources available at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center that help make that possible. I highly value working for an academic medical center with such a strong commitment to innovative research, education and exceptional patient care.

Maribeth was most excellent in her knowledge and demeanor.
The care provider was knowledgeable, patient with an excellent bed side manner.

Good so far,
I honestly do not believe that she had helpful things to say to me regarding my condition. I don't believe that she listened to my concerns with an open mind. I believe she already had a foregone conclusion. I did that like the fact that I had to tell her additional health conditions while she typed it in on my record. That should have been available, and that is indicative of poor electronic record keeping within the Wexner Medical Center. I just don't think that this provider is a good fit for me.

First time I had met with her - she was very up front and helpful.
She was awesome and answered all my questions
Maribeth Smith APRN-CNP made me feel very comfortable in asking her any questions I had. She kept her vocabulary very understandable. And when saying any medical term she didn't mind explaining what it was. Her psychological output was so easy to follow and made me feel well tuned in.
The PA I thought was very thorough and answered all my questions and concerns
Was not trying to hear most of the things that I was saying about the medication that was prescribed as I was trying to explain that one of the medication that was prescribed had major side effects, but the care provider kept trying to push this med on me to take

She took her time to explain everything to me and also told me she would be gone for two weeks. That some of my blood work might not be back before she goes on vacation but she would make sure someone lets me know what the results are and make sure everything is scheduled for me for the future i.e blood work and ultrasound.

She had reviewed all my history and knew all about me before I came in. This was our first visit. She was very knowledgeable, and very clear explaining everything. I felt like I was in excellent hands. She got my test and procedure scheduled urgently. They were in contact with me several times.
