I am a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I provide medical and surgical care for patients with glaucoma and other complex eye conditions. My patients can rely on me for high quality, compassionate care and honest communication in every encounter.
I collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of skilled experts to ensure each patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs and values. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am passionate about educating and mentoring the next generation of providers.
I am a clinical professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Mark is a caring individual. I asked a few questions regarding eye drops and routine appointments as I have a long standing one at OSU Ophthalmology Clinic @ the Main Campus every six months.
Again, Dr. Slabaugh (sorry if I've misspellt his name) never seemed as though he was in a hurry to get me out of there. That means a lot to me (and most likely to all the other patients he sees).

Doctor was unable to diagnose why eyelids are swollen and itch. Quickly dismissed the issue. Noted my farsighted was extreme and recommended cataract surgery. Was surprised since he was unable to diagnose current issue but recommended surgery for something else. If he couldn't and did not even try to diagnose current Issue how did he believe I would be ok for cataract surgery?
I trust my provider fully with the care that I receive.
This was my first visit with this provider. He listened to my history and suggested a new solution to my problem.
Dr. Slaybaugh has a very good chair side manner. He is very knowledgeable and in parts that knowledge to the patients. However, the computer was down in the room that I saw him in and I'm not sure that he was able to take a clear look at the pictures that were taken of my eyes and this concerns me.

I came in with concerns of binocular vision dysfunction and he didnt even check me for it because I dont have double vision, but double vision is an uncommon symptom and so shouldn't rule BVD out. He didnt go through typical symptoms to see how many I had. Now I have to find another provider that will actually check me for the thing I spent hours driving to my appointment for.

He was very knowledgeable but he did not take my concern about my double vision seriously.He mentioned what might be next steps, but he did not ask for me to follow up with him. I felt like I was bothering him/ wasting his time and left feeling embarrassed that I had bothered me especially when he suggested I ask my daughter ( a neurologist) for her opinion about my double vision and try to stop tilting my head which might be causing the problem. He has not posted any notes on my visit ( four days ago) which tells me he was not really taking me seriously. My husband met with another OSU ophthalmologist with a different outcome and overall feeling. His doctor posted notes within hours of the visit.
