Biography
I am an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in performing adult reconstruction procedures, including partial and total hip and knee replacements. My role also involves caring for patients with infected hip and knee replacements and people whose prior replacement surgeries were unsuccessful. In addition, I regularly treat patients for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, and degenerative hip and knee arthritis.
My patients can expect a personal approach when they come to see me. I always take the time to listen to people and I leverage 15+ years of experience to manage their care. It’s important to me to answer all questions and make sure each patient feels confident about their care plan.
I attended medical school at The Ohio State University and it’s an honor to be back home. The collaborative environment at this academic medical center is second to none, and the resources available lead to limitless possibilities. I am dedicated to education, service to others and leadership, and each phase of my career has been molded by the exceptional colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years.
My calling as an academic orthopedic surgeon is to train and recruit the next generation of academic leaders in our field. I am an associate professor of orthopedic surgery in the Division of Adult Reconstruction, and I take a lot of pride in serving as a mentor. Over the years, I’ve guided many medical students through applying to the orthopedic surgery residency match. Several of the residents and fellows I’ve trained have pursued careers in academic medicine and I like to think I helped foster their passion for education. Those interactions have been and continue to be some of the best experiences of my academic career.
I am actively involved with several organizations including the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Hip and Knee Society. Most of the projects that I have been a part of deal with the assessment of resident trainees within training programs. The Ohio State University has been a pilot program for assessment tools that track a resident trainee’s progress, covering material in behavioral fields, surgical or procedural development, and the assessment of overall medical knowledge. I believe my work, both clinically and in educational assessment and curriculum design, will remain an impactful part of the orthopedic resident training plan.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my wife of 23+ years and our four children.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
