About Me

I’m a urologist who specializes in treating patients with complex kidney stones and enlarged prostates. I have specialty training performing holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) procedures.

I’m passionate about using my skills to reduce a patient’s suffering and help improve their quality of life. It’s rewarding when I can successfully remove a kidney stone that was causing a patient excruciating pain or threatening kidney function. Similarly, it’s gratifying when a patient has a successful HoLEP and can urinate on their own again after living with a catheter for months or years.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has a thriving Endourology division, providing cutting-edge care for patients. I’m honored to be part of this team and to help bring HoLEP to the people of Columbus and beyond. As someone who’s benefited from the mentorship of others, I’m also excited to pay it forward and work with medical students and residents here at Ohio State.

My research interests include enhancing our understanding of stone pathogenesis and helping to develop strategies to improve surgical outcomes. The opioid epidemic is another of my research areas. One of my peer-reviewed publications revealed that efforts to reduce opioid prescriptions after ureteroscopy resulted in lower rates of new persistent opioid use. I’m also a reviewer for publications including European Urology Focus, Journal of Endourology and Urology.

In my free time, my wife and I like cooking new recipes, grilling and sampling bourbon and craft beers. I also enjoy exercising, especially swimming, as I was a varsity swimmer for four years.
