Biography
My areas of specialization include vitreoretinal and corneal diseases. I diagnose and manage eye conditions involving the retina, vitreous (clear gel in the back of the eye), cornea (outer layer) and other structures.
Retinal conditions that I treat include retinal detachment, retinal vascular occlusive disease, diabetic retinopathy and others. Through early intervention and ongoing care, we can prevent and manage many potentially blinding eye conditions. Treatment may involve medical, surgical or other measures.
I perform refractive (vision correction) surgery, as well as surgically repairing dislocated lenses. I also treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in those over 60 years of age.
I am especially interested in advanced imaging technologies, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). This uses light waves to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of the eye. These images help us to clearly detect and treat problems.
Combining state-of-the-art treatment with personalized care is important to me. This includes listening to my patients, communicating clearly and treating each individual with compassion.
I enjoy working at Ohio State's Havener Eye Institute. It is widely recognized for leadership and excellence, and it's a privilege to be part of that.
