About Me

My areas of specialization include vitreoretinal and corneal diseases. I diagnose and manage eye conditions involving the retina, vitreous (clear gel in the back of the eye), cornea (outer layer) and other structures.

Retinal conditions that I treat include retinal detachment, retinal vascular occlusive disease, diabetic retinopathy and others. Through early intervention and ongoing care, we can prevent and manage many potentially blinding eye conditions. Treatment may involve medical, surgical or other measures.

I perform refractive (vision correction) surgery, as well as surgically repairing dislocated lenses. I also treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in those over 60 years of age.

I am especially interested in advanced imaging technologies, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). This uses light waves to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of the eye. These images help us to clearly detect and treat problems.

Combining state-of-the-art treatment with personalized care is important to me. This includes listening to my patients, communicating clearly and treating each individual with compassion.

I enjoy working at Ohio State's Havener Eye Institute. It is widely recognized for leadership and excellence, and it's a privilege to be part of that.

Dr Ohr is top of the line in my opinion. Always very thorough and explains everything and always asks if I have any questions for him

  • Reviewed on Aug 14, 2021

He didn't make himself real clear in the fact of having "choices' as to decisions I could make and kept mentioning how I'm still going to need glasses after the procedure, which left me wondering why were we even doing this, when finally, after the 3rd time speaking with him, I understood he was talking about readers, not lens for distance. Working on making sure his patients COMPLETELY understand the whole procedure and ALL the outcomes to be expected, not just part of it.

Dr. Ohr is a great listener - he takes his time and answers questions. Sometimes with other practitioners I feel like a number - which feels degrading, wonderful experience during this visit - as OK other appts. with Dr. Ohr -
