Matthew Tong, DO
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Osteopathic Physician What's this? A physician, or doctor, is extensively trained to diagnose and treat complex medical problems. Often, physicians focus their practice on certain disease categories, treatment methods or patient types. Physicians can diagnose and treat illness, prescribe medication, offer medical consultation and advice, perform surgery and more.
About MeAs a non-invasive cardiologist, I specialize in advanced cardiac imaging and treat patients with hypercholesterolemia, structural heart disease and valvular heart disease. I believe in enhancing patient care by strengthening the patient-physician relationship through productive communication. There are many complex diagnostic and therapeutic modalities currently available, and my goal is to tailor these in a way that is applicable and beneficial for each patient.
I have a passion for valvular heart disease research as it relates to cardiac magnetic resonance.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because of the collaboration among all of the subspecialties as well as our sense of community. At Ohio State, we have a willingness and dedication to achieve the best care for our patients.
In my free time I enjoy running, swing dancing and spending time with my family.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 12/20/2018, Dr. Tong has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
