About Me

I am a dentist specializing in maxillofacial prosthodontics, head and neck cancer and maxillofacial prosthesis. I received my dental surgery education at Loma Linda University and completed my residency in prosthodontics at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, with a certificate in maxillofacial prosthetics at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. At the OSUCCC – James, I serve as the director of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics. Since 2015, I have been named as a top dentist in Columbus by Columbus Monthly.

My research focuses on a variety of topics, including dentures, maxillofacial prosthodontics and dental management of patients with head and neck cancers. I have presented my research across North America, and it has been published in numerous journals, such as the Journal of Radiation Oncology. I also serve as member in the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, the Ohio Dental Association and other organizations.

At The James, I have the best resources available for my patients. From new technologies and research methods to experienced medical professionals, I have the tools and support to offer individualized treatment to each of my patients. By educating my patients and treating them effectively, I share in achieving our goal of a cancer-free world, one patient at a time.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 03/28/2017, Dr. Van Putten has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
