Biography
I am passionate about delivering comprehensive women’s health care across patients’ reproductive and nonreproductive stages. As a general obstetrician and gynecologist, I treat patients from their first menstrual cycle, through menopause and beyond. In my role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I perform gynecologic surgical procedures, including minimally invasive approaches. I also perform vaginal births and cesarean deliveries, and provide prenatal and postpartum care. In addition, I treat conditions including abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, adnexal masses, cervical and vulvar abnormalities, and pelvic pain, and offer contraception counseling.
My patients can expect a compassionate, patient-centered approach when they come to see me. I care for all patients as I would want my own family members to be treated, and I empower them to be advocates for their health needs.
The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is a special place to work and receive medical care. Each clinician offers their unique expertise, and, as one collaborative team, clinicians work together to provide the best personalized health care to all patients, no matter their background.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy exploring the Metro Parks around Columbus and trying new restaurants around the city. During the fall, you’ll find me in scarlet and gray, cheering on the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium.

Academics and research
I trained at a large academic institution and that experience demonstrated just how important attending physicians are in preparing the next generation of providers. I am who I am today because of my mentors and teachers, and I am passionate about continuing to pay it forward. I am a clinical assistant professor, and I work with medical students in outpatient offices, operating rooms and on labor and delivery floors.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Melissa Brown has reported no relationships with companies or entities.

Dr. Brown is amazing!
Dr. Brown is awesome! She is professional and answers all questions as needed. When needing follow-up care with another provider, she is quick to place a referral.
MD was very knowledgeable, patient, understood my concerns, and took enough time with me since I was a new patient with her and she had to get to know me. I was comfortable with her knowledge , and that's sometimes difficult to do with doctors since I'm a 46 year practicing RN, and very smart, and know BS when I hear it. This doctor knew her stuff, and I've found a great doctor!
Dr Brown read all 70 pages of my medical record. She was able to recall my history and ask questions to effectively create my POC. She scheduled me for a 9 week appointment even though technically I fell under a 4 week f/u plan bc of my history and anxiety with pregnancy. She's one of the best doctors I've ever worked with. I'm a nurse and my husband is not in medical she was respectful & explained things in a level of detail for both of us.
While I will not be seeing Dr. Brown during my pregnancy (I am seeing the midwives), she was actually so wonderful to do the ultrasound with. I was so scared and worried after experiencing a previous miscarriage and she was so kind and reassuring. Then when we heard the heartbeat of this baby she celebrated with us as I cried. She was full of empathy and joy for us and I needed that.
Dr brown is amazing. She's is so caring. I am lucky to have her takes care of me
Although I had no medical issues to discuss, Dr Brown spoke with me about warning signs to be aware of and to contact her if anything arose.
The provider was very professional and courteous. She was concerned about my genetic history
Dr.Brown is very knowledgeable when it comes to my medical history, so so friendly and makes me feel very welcome and supported. I have no complaints at all about her.
Dr Brown answered questions I didn't even know I had. I got all the information I needed to make decisions, not just enough to start research.
Dr brown is always so personable and remembers me even though I only see her once a year. It makes me feel like she really cares about me.
Provider was excellent, very knowledgeable and transparent about care
