About Me
I am a neurologist who specializes in treating a variety of movement disorders including essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body dementia, dystonia, and tardive dyskinesia. I have extensive expertise in innovative therapies such as deep brain stimulation (DBS), focused ultrasound (FUS) and botulinum toxin injection therapy.
I chose to focus on movement disorders because it allows me to develop long-term relationships with my patients and to see the results of the care provided over time. My patients can rely on me for support throughout their health care journey. I always listen closely to the details of their histories, carefully observe their symptoms, and develop customized treatment plans that make the most sense for their individual situation.
I am passionate about educating my patients and their care providers about the nature of their conditions, treatment options, and what to expect as time goes by. It’s rewarding to help each patient better understand their situation and give them signs of hope for the future. In addition, I encourage my patients to avoid comparing themselves to others with the same condition because every case is unique, while at the same time letting them know they are not alone in their struggles.
My patients can expect a multidisciplinary approach to their care here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I collaborate closely with other exceptional specialists in physical and occupational therapy, speech pathology, nutrition, and others to ensure my patients receive the best treatment possible.
I am also involved with training the next generation of physicians as an assistant clinical professor of neurology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. My own mentor inspired my dedication to teaching, which includes sharing wisdom and tactics that may make diagnosing and treating conditions easier. I feel privileged to be able to pay it forward and pass on guidance from others who inspired me during my own journey.
I am also a member of several prestigious organizations including the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society, the Functional Neurological Disorders Society (FNDS) and the Wisconsin Parkinson'’s Association (WPA) Medical Advisory Committee.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Schonberger has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
