About Me
As a transplant hepatologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in the care of patients with advanced liver disease and cirrhosis and perform a variety of endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, the placement of feeding tubes, and esophageal dilations. When I’m not treating patients, I provide instruction on liver disease and lead small groups of medical students in clinical practice. In addition to teaching, I enjoy conducting outcome-based research on patients with liver disease to improve patient care.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/01/2020, Dr. Wellner has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
No wait time, very pleasant, took time to answer our questions, was a pleasure to go to this appt.
He is very professional and makes sure all of my concerns were addressed.
Listened very well, very knowledgeable, very nice, made me feel better knowing he is my liver doctor.
Dr. Wellner is a good physician. I'm sure but his bedside manner is terrible. This was my 2nd visit with him and both times he made me feel like I was dying. He said he was sending me for an ultrasound to look for liver/cancer. He is the doom of gloom.
The dr took the time to explain in detail they medical issues I had and what I needed to do why it needed done. Did a good job on educating me on what was going on now and how it could be treated.
Very excellent and down to earth person. Excellent bed side manner
Always good - no bad.
Good! Super nice Dr. Wellner and staff!
Couldn't have been more pleased with the first visit at OSU Medical. The dr. was easy to understand and easy to talk to. Everything about the visit was great!!
When the doctor and hematologist came in they both understood and created a plan that would we could live with and seemed to understand the issue.
