Physician, Assistant Professor
Ophthalmology
Department: Ophthalmology
As a neuro-ophthalmologist, it is highly rewarding to be able to help improve a patient’s eyesight or prevent vision loss. I specialize in treating patients who are experiencing vision problems stemming from optic nerve and brain diseases. In addition, I commonly see patients with double vision, irregular eye movements and pupillary abnormalities. I appreciate the multidisciplinary approach to care, the access to innovative technologies and the friendly and collaborative environment here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and I am proud to be part of the team.
My approach is to treat the whole patient, not just the disease. I prioritize teamwork with each patient, and I work collaboratively with them and their families to determine the best treatment option based on their needs and values. I enjoy establishing long-lasting patient-doctor relationships based on trust, understanding and care.
My research interests include optic nerve treatments and improving ophthalmic imaging with the goal of better understanding eye diseases. My work has been widely published in peer-reviewed neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmology journals and I have delivered dozens of poster presentations about my research.
I was fortunate to learn from my knowledgeable and caring mentors throughout my academic career. Their example of how to provide optimal patient care and conduct groundbreaking research was motivating for me. That experience also inspired my love for teaching, which is part of my role at Ohio State. I encourage medical students and residents to ask questions and I involve them in thoughtful discussions about patient care.
Outside of work, I love having fun with my husband and daughter and spending time with extended family and friends. I enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures, swimming, playing tennis and baking.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Very happy with my care. Very through. She shares test information with me and helps me to understand the plan we have for my care.
Professional
Dr Galoyan is both an exceptional person and medical practitioner. She initially saw me on in response to a need for immediate medical attention working me into her schedule. She followed up on my case with professional follow ups. Dr Galoyan made me confident in my prognosis and comfortable with the current medical status.
She showed genuine concern for me and was very knowledgeable about my eye issue. She explained everything and was honest and reassuring in my care.

Good
Very knowledgeable and thorough, I Did not have much time to ask the questions I needed as it seemed that provider was wanting to exit as she had her purse and umbrella in her hand ready to leave. Time was limited for me to understanding my diagnosis etc.
Seemed interested in me. Explained results of testing and pictures. Answered my questions.
