Biography
I am an orthopedic surgeon, specializing in acute knee injuries and chronic knee pain, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on sports medicine and advanced knee preservation and reconstruction, including the treatment of ligament tears, meniscus injuries, dislocations, tendon ruptures and cartilage damage.
As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, I care for patients ranging from recreational athletes to professional and collegiate competitors. At the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, whenever appropriate, I use minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, while also providing open and complex knee surgical procedures when needed.
My care philosophy centers on developing a treatment plan that reflects each patient's unique goals, needs and values. After establishing an accurate diagnosis, I take time to explain both nonsurgical and surgical options so patients can make informed decisions about their care. Whether the goal is returning to competitive sports or moving through daily life without pain, I work closely with each patient to restore function and help them achieve the outcomes that matter most.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, traveling and powerlifting.

Academics and research
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and my research focuses on knee preservation and strategies to help delay or avoid total knee replacement surgery. I specialize in evaluating and advancing surgical approaches that restore knee mechanics and improve long-term joint function.
My research interests center on preserving native knee function through procedures that reduce joint stress and improve alignment. A key area of focus is the use of knee osteotomy to relieve pressure on affected areas of the joint and support long-term knee health. Through this work, I seek to identify approaches that can help patients maintain mobility and postpone the need for total knee replacement surgery.
I also study complex knee injuries and their treatment. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and I have presented findings at medical conferences. By combining clinical insight with research, I aim to improve treatment strategies and outcomes for patients with complex knee conditions.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Dr. Apseloff is amazing. He is smart, answers questions in an easy to understand way, gives me options for how I want to proceed with a treatment plan, and is always kind. I will recommend him to everyone who has knee issues. I have helped my parents through knee surgeries and have dealt with different ortho doctors, and Dr. Apseloff is top tier.
Explained everything in detail, even pulled up my imaging so I could see exactly what he was talking about. Told me to call the office if I have questions or concerns in the future.

The doctor has been amazing throughout the whole 9 month process of my surgery and recovery. He explains everything, answers my questions and genuinely listens to me.
Dr. Aspeloff did an outstanding job from the initial visit in listening to my health concerns, preparing me for my surgery and setting expectations. The aftercare was equally as impressive. I know I'm wasn't his only patient, but Dr. Aspeloff did an excellent job In making me feel so.
