At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Excellent
Always professional, family oriented reminded me that my care is whats important
I scheduled a new patient appointment with Dr. Barbour after speaking to a family member who highly recommended her. However, I walked away feeling rushed, disappointed in the attention I received, and I felt discouraged from asking additional questions just so she could get her schedule back on track. When I attempted to ask my final question, she did not hesitate to share that she needed to go because she was behind as she continued to back away towards the door. I feel my new patient appointment shouldn't have to be cut short, especially since it started much later than expected. Before her arrival, I was initially told that she couldn't be found. Then someone shared that she was running rounds at the hospital, which I found confusing since I had an appointment scheduled. The staff were apologetic and shared that they would have communicated sooner if they knew, that is appreciated. Also, I get that appointments don't always start on time. However, as a new patient, my first impression was not good. I expected to have a thorough conversation about my health history and health concerns, and to not feel rushed.
She was professional and courteous and thorough
