Biography
I provide general internal medicine and pediatric care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in treating both adult and pediatric patients, and completed a combined residency program with The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about training the next generation of physicians. I am an assistant professor of Internal Medicine – Pediatrics, mentor medical students interested in this specialty, and serve as a faculty leader for both students and residents. I’ve been honored to receive awards such as the John McNaugher Stang Award for Inspiring Internal Medicine Resident Teacher and the General Medical Education (GME) Housestaff Award for Teaching.
I appreciate the commitment to research at The Ohio State University. My work has focused on topics such as immunosuppression and exaggerated immune responses, simulation education to improve resuscitation of pregnant patients, and developing specific curriculums to enhance medical education for residents. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and I’ve presented my work before respected medical conferences.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Philip Chang has reported no relationships with companies or entities.

He is very professional and It's fine things very clearly
The doctor is always very upbeat and spends plenty of time in consultation
Dr. Phil is an outstanding physician! I am a nurse and have high standards for my care! He exceeds all my expectations!
Doctor Chang is always excellent and very caring
Dr. Chang is the best - great bedside manner, excellent at communication in both directions, with both children and parents. Doesn't over-medicate, uses the safest and mildest treatment that's appropriate for the condition. He also may very well have saved our daughter's life last year by aggressively following up to confirm a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis before it possibly led to DKA.
The doctor was very respectful and made sure we addressed any concerns
He was respectful in trying to give her a high five or first bump was was okay when she wasn't responding. He liked the "stranger danger"
Explained his concerns in detail
Dr. Chang is a fantastic provider (kind, caring, intelligent, listens, up to date on latest recommendations, always going above and beyond) - one of the best! I'm sad to have to leave him soon, but he explained the transition so well trying to make It as easy for me as possible, and I hope that I'll find someone just like him when I move.
Wonderful!
Amazing physician, always takes time to listen and quick with follow up.

Wonderful! Easy to talk to and spend time with us.
Dr. Chang, does an excellent job explaining and listening to any concerns I have regarding my child's health.
