About Me
I am a gastroenterologist who specializes in performing minimally invasive endoscopic procedures to help patients with diseases of the foregut. In my role as co-leader of the bariatric and metabolic endoscopy program here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I focus on helping patients lose weight and improve their overall health. I regularly perform procedures including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, advanced therapeutic endoscopies, and endoscopic ultrasounds. I also diagnose and treat various pancreatic, liver, biliary and gastrointestinal diseases.
Offering evidence-based, up-to-date interventions is of utmost importance for improving my patients’ quality of life. The opportunity to be creative and offer innovative solutions for my patients, which are backed by research, gives me motivation every day. It is a privilege to be part of each patient’s health journey and I look forward to working with them to achieve their wellness goals.
I am passionate about continuing to improve the techniques we can offer to our patients and give them the best outcomes possible. I have published evidence-based guidelines and recommendations on multiple topics including intragastric balloons for weight loss, pharmacologic management of obesity, and treatments for liver cancer.
I was fortunate to have amazing mentors during my training, who have motivated me to become an academic therapeutic endoscopist, and I am proud to pay it forward by helping to train future physicians. I developed a novel technique for teaching evidence-based endoscopy through simulation, and I enjoy serving as a mentor to students, residents and fellows here at Ohio State.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Shah has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
