My ophthalmology practice includes expertise in cornea and external diseases, cataract and refractive surgery, and other eye conditions.
I've always wanted a career where I could help people. What makes me happy in life is when I can help someone in need.
Providing a medical or surgical therapy can truly change a patient's quality of life. When people tell me how grateful they are for my care, it makes me feel good about what I do. I also enjoy educating medical students and resident physicians.
In addition to my ophthalmology work at Ohio State, I have participated in medical mission trips to Nicaragua and Ghana with Ohio State colleagues. We've done vision screenings, corneal transplants, cataract surgery and other treatments for children and adults. It’s always a rewarding experience. The people there are so appreciative. I love knowing I've helped change someone's life.
I enjoy working at Ohio State. Ohio State's Eye and Ear Institute is a beautiful facility and easy to access. We have modern equipment and spacious exam rooms. We have the resources and expertise to help people in many ways.

Dr. Kuennen is highly intelligent. I am confident that she is an expert and all things about the cornea. But I felt she was rushed, didn't feel the need to deal with me since she quickly diagnosed my problem as not related with my cornea. It felt to me as If she washed her hands of me the moment she concluded this wasn't her area of expertise.

She seems very knowledgeable and I got the impression that she is very good at her job and she was very confident in her recommendation for treatment. It seems very routine for her which was comforting in the fact that it should go as smoothly as possible. She was ready to move on very quickly and it was a lot of new information to take in quickly and try to think of any questions that needed to be asked as fast as possible to prepare for the procedure. She did answer each question in a satisfactory manner

Honestly my biggest complaint is that she was seemingly rushing the whole time and didn't seem to know exactly what the osu ed dr told me about my eye n made the issue sound different and more minor than he did.

This was my initial visit to the Eye Institute following my emergency room visit two days prior. I didn't spend much time with provider other than her telling me I might lose my eye. No plan of care was clearly provided and I'm somewhat confused and concerned on my future. The staff and wait time we're all excellent. I'm not sure who my main doctor is after two visits with two different cornea specialists. Hoping to clear that up at this weeks visit.

My dr is quite nice the only issue I have with her is I think she assumed I knew what to expect after surgery. I did not. I was not aware that I would need to do drops for a month! Even overlapping my 2nd eye surgery. I feel had I been informed I might have rescheduled or spaced the surgeries farther apart.I was disapointed when I told her this she shrugged like it was no big deal! But it and still is to me

The doctor was very concerned about my diabetes.
She rushed in and out, acted frustrated, said nothing she could do, announced legally blind in left eye and told my daughter and me where to find exit.
I feel Dr. Kueenen is the best! She is so caring and remembers everything I told her since I started seeing her in 2017. My husband was impressed that she remembers my vision issues. She is a wonderful caring provider.

She was very poor. Waited over an hour, which I understand sometimes there are emergencies so I didn't mind. She entered the room, never looked at me went straight to the computer. Said her name so fast I didn't hear it and was literally in the room less than 2 minutes. Never explained what was going on with my eye. Just said you have an infection in the eye lid. Didn't explain or seem to care how or what kind of infection it might be. I tried to ask a few questions and she totally disregarded my questions. I felt it wasn't anything important to her so she didn't give me the time of day to ask questions.

She acted as if an average person should know what type of special surgeon I would need to take care of my particular eye issue. She acted as if I was wasting her time and was very short and blunt. I know she is a surgeon, so most important skill for a surgeon isn't bedside manner, but it would have been nice if she practiced a bit of tenderness.

I love my doc she's outstanding she can fix issue in minutes that the er has ulcerated my eye and made me almost lose my vision twice when they dug in my eye 45 min said they removed a stitch and didn't my eyes turned purple and grn in 3 days and I've had to go to her to have her to fix issue twice. She ango in 2 min and I can go b a ck to work and never have another issue. Will not go to er for my eyes
