My ophthalmology practice includes expertise in cornea and external diseases, cataract and refractive surgery, and other eye conditions.
I've always wanted a career where I could help people. What makes me happy in life is when I can help someone in need.
Providing a medical or surgical therapy can truly change a patient's quality of life. When people tell me how grateful they are for my care, it makes me feel good about what I do. I also enjoy educating medical students and resident physicians.
In addition to my ophthalmology work at Ohio State, I have participated in medical mission trips to Nicaragua and Ghana with Ohio State colleagues. We've done vision screenings, corneal transplants, cataract surgery and other treatments for children and adults. It’s always a rewarding experience. The people there are so appreciative. I love knowing I've helped change someone's life.
I enjoy working at Ohio State. Ohio State's Eye and Ear Institute is a beautiful facility and easy to access. We have modern equipment and spacious exam rooms. We have the resources and expertise to help people in many ways.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Friendly, focused, caring.
She was very poor. Waited over an hour, which I understand sometimes there are emergencies so I didn't mind. She entered the room, never looked at me went straight to the computer. Said her name so fast I didn't hear it and was literally in the room less than 2 minutes. Never explained what was going on with my eye. Just said you have an infection in the eye lid. Didn't explain or seem to care how or what kind of infection it might be. I tried to ask a few questions and she totally disregarded my questions. I felt it wasn't anything important to her so she didn't give me the time of day to ask questions.

She acted as if an average person should know what type of special surgeon I would need to take care of my particular eye issue. She acted as if I was wasting her time and was very short and blunt. I know she is a surgeon, so most important skill for a surgeon isn't bedside manner, but it would have been nice if she practiced a bit of tenderness.

Dr Kuennen saved my eye over 15 years ago, therefore, in my eyes (gratefully, BOTH of them!), she can do no wrong. She is EXCEPTIONAL.
Always shows concern for me
I love my doc she's outstanding she can fix issue in minutes that the er has ulcerated my eye and made me almost lose my vision twice when they dug in my eye 45 min said they removed a stitch and didn't my eyes turned purple and grn in 3 days and I've had to go to her to have her to fix issue twice. She ango in 2 min and I can go b a ck to work and never have another issue. Will not go to er for my eyes

Somewhat arrogant, condescending, did not offer any useful suggestions or solutions. Felt like since I didn't present with a major issue, I wasn't important. Felt like I was not taken seriously and seen as an individual patient. Apparently I wasted her time and mine and am no closer to figuring out how to address the concerns, pain and discomfort that brought me in to consult with her in the first place.
She was very thorough, took time to ask me questions and ask if I had questions concerning my condition.I trust her and her advice.

I was very fearful of the procedure and both the doctor and anesthesiologist were compassionate and great doctors. The anesthesiologist rubbed my hand during the procedure and their positive energy helped me with my anxiety. This was the best care I've ever received.
