Nurse Practitioner
Internal Medicine
Department: Internal Medicine
As a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, I specialize in the care of patients with breast cancer. My role at the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center involves treating patients with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, breast cancer, as well as covering infusion and acute care visits. I will serve as a float seeing patients in all the breast medical oncology teams and high risk to allow my colleagues time away while keeping patients schedules unchanged to allow for timely care without interruptions.
I chose to specialize in breast medical oncology because this work is deeply personal to me and my family. My mother was diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene mutation, which significantly increases the risk of developing certain malignancies, and she passed away from metastatic breast cancer.
BRCA gene mutations impact many families, and I am committed to providing the same high-quality and compassionate care that I would want for my own loved ones. Breast cancer is life-changing, and my patients can rely on me as a supportive advocate through each stage of their diagnosis and treatment journeys.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am passionate about helping to guide the next generation of cancer care providers. Education and mentorship have fundamentally changed me as a provider. I am more patient, energetic and thoughtful in how I approach patients because of my experiences with students. Students will shape the future of health care, and I believe taking the time to teach and learn with them creates a more compassionate and knowledgeable team for our patients.
