About Me

Dr. Richard E. Rodenberg is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, pediatrics and primary care sports medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He provides comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine, long-term wellness and musculoskeletal health. Known for his compassionate, high-quality care and honest communication, Dr. Rodenberg works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each patient receives personalized treatment aligned with their individual needs and values.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rodenberg is a recognized leader in sports medicine education. He founded the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2008 and served as its program director until 2024. Under his leadership, the program became a respected training ground for physicians specializing in the care of athletes at all levels.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rodenberg has provided expert care to a wide range of athletes, from elementary school children and high school teams to collegiate athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as semi-professional athletes in both school-based and club sports settings.

Dr. Rodenberg also serves in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he is deeply involved in medical education and mentorship. He practices at Ohio State Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Clinic Hilliard, continuing to blend academic leadership with patient-centered clinical care.
