At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Dr Atway is great. Very caring and easy to talk to.
I spoke with the resident assigned to me, explained my situation and was told that he would shave a callous off the bottom of my left foot. After I then expressed concern over the nail on my big toe on my right foot, the resident acted like my concern was no big deal. I then asked if he could trim my toe nails -- which he did. However the toe nail trim was jagged and needed smoothed out. I asked if he would do that and he said I could do it later. When I put my socks back on the roughness of my toe nails made it difficult to put in my socks. I asked again if he could PLEASE file down the rough places on them. He looked in a couple of drawers in the exam room before announcing that there were no nail files there to complete the job. Once again he suggested that I could buy some at the pharmacy and take care of this by myself. About the same time, Dr. Atway entered the room, had no time for small talk, asked me why I was there, confirmed what the resident had done to me and then recommended that I schedule a return visit in 3 or 4 months. He then immediately left the exam room. I felt as though my presence there was an inconvenience for Dr Atway and the main reason I scheduled the appointment was because when I met with him previously, he was friendly and nice and he told me to come back and see him if the callous on my left foot returned, causing pain

We discussed some lingering issues I had. I was referred for orthopedic supports in my shoes. I agree that this should improve my situation.

I have had CMT for about 30 yease and Dr. Atway was the first doctor that did and good for me. I've gone to the OSU Neurology Departmentfor years and all they have done is give me pain pills. Dr. Atway seemed very interested in my condition
Honestly, I had a favorite physician until Dr. Atway became my new favorite!!! He, his entire staff and facility provide such excellence in care!!! They are top notch!!! Two thumbs up! 5 Star providers of care!!! I don't have one complaint!

Said is ALWAYS great! He takes time to explain things (despite that I am a health care provider) and makes sure that I am doing the right things, ie exercise, shoes, lifts, inserts, etc. Said has completed two extensive surgeries on my foot and the care surrounding the second surgery was, I believe in my best interest and enabled the best possible outcome.
Dr Atway is an excellent provider! He listens well, explains everything, asks if I understand and if not, he will explain again. Excellent interpersonal skills!
He did a very good job of telling me exactly what he was doing and how my wound looked gave me very good advice also about shoes.
The resident doctor was very thorough and has great patient relatability. Doctor also very easy to talk to and I would definitely return if needed.
He was great. Listened and took time to discuss various issues that might be related. Quickly got an x-ray and read it with me immediately afterwards. Seems he has a good team and is a doc I would suggest to anyone with foot issues.

Did not spend time with me. Did not elaborate on types of shoes and orthotics that work with my type of feet. Not detailed enough so I could purchase correct products. He did not examine me just talked. He spent about 5 minutes with me.

During my visit Dr. Atway did not see the fracture present on my toe from the x-rays taken on the day of the visit. He later called to notify me of the findings from radiology.

Dr. Atway is kind, professional, and LISTENS!! He explained everything about my condition very well. His resident ( young woman - I don't remember her name ) was also excellent!
Every appointment, Dr. Atway has provided great care. He has answered every question that has crossed my mind and done so in a way that made it easy to understand. He has responded in a timely fashion any time I have needed to message him through MyChart and when needed has acted quickly and decisively in the best interest of my care. I genuinely could not have asked for better.
He reviewed my xrays and gave me a detailed explanation of what he saw, what his recommendation were, what the risks were, and answered all of my questions and was very receptive to what my decisions were. As well as the Resident/Fellow. He was fantastic as well.
So pleased with Dr. Atway that my wife now sees him, and I am in a study he is conducting.
I think the dr. was awesome! He knew what he was doing and I felt very confident w/going forward on the steroid injection in my foot for the plantar fasciitis/pain.
No bad experiences, all good. I will be on light duty when I return to work which is great news.
