Biography

I am Sarah Everhart, MS, RN, ACNP-BC, and I specialize in palliative medicine nursing care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on supporting patients and families through complex, serious illnesses with an emphasis on symptom management and meaningful goals-of-care conversations.

I chose a career in medicine because I have always been passionate about helping and caring for others. I began as a nurse and advanced to a nurse practitioner to deepen my impact on patient care. I find palliative medicine especially rewarding, as it allows me to improve quality of life, relieve symptoms and ensure that patients and families feel heard, supported and empowered in their care decisions.

My clinical experience as a bedside nurse in several intensive care units shaped my approach to care and reinforced the importance of integrating palliative services early in the patient journey. This experience continues to guide my work as I collaborate closely with care teams to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

I am proud to have graduated cum laude with both my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and my Master of Science degrees. I am a certified critical care nurse and hold advanced certification in hospice and palliative nursing, reflecting my commitment to excellence in this specialty.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, as well as our Rhodesian ridgeback, Zeke. We love traveling to the mountains, and I enjoy supporting my husband by crewing and pacing during his ultramarathons.
