Biography
Dr. Sarah Hermans is a board-certified internal medicine physician committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered primary care. She earned her MD and MPH degrees from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in internal medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. During her training, she pursued additional expertise in global health and the care of LGBTQ+ populations.
Dr. Hermans manages a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, depression and ADHD. She has special clinical interests in the care of patients with HIV, weight management, and the care of individuals during perimenopause and menopause.
Her approach emphasizes not only evidence-based medical management but also the importance of nutrition, physical activity, mood and sleep in optimizing health. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care and is especially committed to partnering with patients who may have experienced barriers to health care. Dr. Hermans values the long-term relationships fostered in primary care and is committed to shared decision-making that prioritizes each patient’s goals and concerns

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

After my appointment, I had a concern about my blood sugar levels, Dr. Hermans give me directions for monitoring and then communicating with her, then she was very helpful in communicating back with me

Dr. Hermans was kind and attentive. Given the significant life changes I'm undergoing, she was respectful but firm with her suggestions on next steps I should take to safeguard my holistic health. Given their attentiveness, my previous providers at this location and Dr. Hermans make it easier for patients like me to become more comfortable with being completely forthcoming about our health struggles, which is extremely important when coming up with a proper healthcare plan.
