About Me

As an obstetrician and gynecologist, I focus on providing evidence-based, compassionate care for patients across the lifespan. I have extensive experience helping patients navigate pregnancy, including addressing any related complications. I provide supportive care during childbirth and the postpartum period, and guide patients through breastfeeding. My practice also includes treating patients for conditions including abnormal uterine bleeding and polycystic ovary syndrome and providing contraceptive care.

When I was a teenager, I viewed the Ob/Gyn office as intimidating and uncomfortable. My own experiences inspired me to do all I can to create a positive, nonjudgmental space where my patients can feel safe and comfortable talking about their bodies. Whether it’s talking about why periods happen or figuring out pregnancy, I believe my job is to explain everything in a way that my patients can understand.

I believe medicine is a partnership between the provider and the patient. I always discuss patients’ conditions and treatment options with them, including the risks and benefits. I clearly answer questions to ensure the patient understands what is happening with their body and provide my recommendations. However, I let patients decide how to proceed — I empower them to make health care decisions that best align with their goals and values.

I have been at The Ohio State University since I was an undergraduate student, and I feel privileged to continue my career here. The sense of community is unparalleled. Colleagues truly support and respect each other, and the collaboration across highly specialized disciplines provides the best possible care to patients.

Learning and working at an institution so heavily rooted in research has also made me appreciate how data can be used to improve patient care. My own research interests are focused on how to enhance care for patients during the fourth trimester, including treating peripartum mood disorders and supporting parents through breastfeeding.

Helping to guide the next generation of providers is another big reason I chose to stay at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I feel passionate about educating students about the intangible “art” of medicine, which includes things that can’t be learned in a textbook, such as strong communication and professionalism. These skills can significantly impact our patients’ experiences, particularly during difficult situations, and I help mentor future providers in this area.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, three kids and our Bernedoodle named Bear. We love visiting local farmer's markets, running around the soccer fields and cheering on our beloved Buckeyes.
