About Me

As a primary care doctor at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I diagnose and treat a wide variety of acute and chronic health conditions. I believe commitment to wellness practices, which include fostering loving relationships, regular exercise, healthy eating, mindfulness practices and play, is the mainstay of healthy living and is crucial to managing illness and injuries.

Patients can rely on me as a collaborative partner as we work to improve their overall health and wellness. Building trusting relationships with patients and their families, and understanding what matters most to them, is especially important to me. The Ohio State University is a family and we work together to help patients and their families lead their best lives. I am proud to be a part of this wonderfully caring and supportive community.

My research is focused on strategies to help patients manage chronic pain, especially with lifestyle choices. I am part of the leadership team for Ohio State’s interdisciplinary chronic pain management service called Pain Rehabilitation and Education: Values and Activities that Improve Life (PRE: VAIL). My current research project involves studying how the interdisciplinary approach to chronic pain management impacts outcomes.

My formative education and training took place in the U.S. Army, where I served as a platoon leader. After medical school at Georgetown, I completed residency at Madigan Army Medical Center. My experience includes serving as chief medical resident, squadron surgeon in Afghanistan, hospitalist, clinic chief, internal medicine clerkship director, and brigade surgeon. The opportunity to help train medics, clinical staff, medical students and/or residents was a rewarding part of each job.

I love that my current role allows me the chance to continue teaching. As a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine, I work with medical students and residents in both clinic and hospital settings. I also serve as a co-facilitator for Longitudinal Group, Ohio State’s “how to be a doctor” class for first- and second-year medical students.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my wife and kids, especially outdoors.
