Biography
While I treat all conditions involving the digestive system, I specialize in diseases that affect how the gut moves (motility disorders) and problems with the food pipe (esophagus). I enjoy talking to patients, understanding their perspective and working with them to create an individualized treatment plan. In addition to my work with patients, I enjoy conducting research because it ultimately helps improve what I do on the clinical side too.
At Ohio State, I love the camaraderie among my colleagues and the focus on patient-centered care. People here are very friendly and do their best to help, which makes it special to work here.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading (am a big fan of Asterix and Obelix), painting, watching science fiction movies, biking and gardening.

Academics and research
I am a physician scientist with experience in clinical trials, and translational basic research. During my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, I investigated the role of glycoproteins NGAL and MUC4 in pancreatic cancer pathogenesis, diagnosis and as therapeutic targets. I was funded by the US Dept. of Defense to work on the role of MUC4 mucin in the pathogenesis of breast cancer.
During my Gastroenterology training at the Mayo Clinic, I focused on functional GI disorders (e.g., constipation, gastroparesis) and on disorders of the esophagus (e.g., Barrett's esophagus, GERD). I was an NIH T32 Fellow at the Mayo Clinic and used the fellowship time to design and perform 2 therapeutic clinical trials in constipation and fecal incontinence.
I am interested to collaborate with oncologists, molecular biologists and others at The James Cancer Center to apply my skills towards prevention of GI cancers and management of functional GI disorders in these patients.

Dr. Chakraborty was amazing. I am a very complex case who had bad experiences prior and Dr. Chakraborty was so empathetic towards my past experiences and knowledgeable in finding a way to help me going forward. I was pleasantly surprised how amazing this provider was.

Ok
Excellent
Professional, kind, informative, good listener.
Doctor Chakraborty, was very helpful and a very special doctor to have.
I have struggled in the past to feel heard in medical settings and to be taken seriously by healthcare providers, but this doctor did not make me feel this way at all. He listened to me, he took me seriously, and he did not rush me at all. I would absolutely recommend him, the only issue is how long it can take to get an appointment with this doctor.
He was very attentive and caring, very descriptive with everything and super professional.
He is very knowledgeable and helpful in giving advice.
Very intricate focus to detail and explained everything great. Made me feel hopeful and a light at the end of the tunnel. Multiple treatment plans were offered, even holistic which is great.
Dr Chakraborty is awesome. He is diligent to talk through and explain the what and how about concerns and questions I had.
He is excellent. No complain

I really like Dr Chakraborty. He doesn't give up on his patients.
The doctor was thorough and helpful
He's the best provider I have ever had. His bedaide manner is amazing. He was so thorough, thoughtful, and treated my issue with the expexted amount of urgency, compassion, and attention I felt was warranted. He answer not just my questions, but those of my family. At no point did I feel I rushed or ignored. This is such a great provider, highly recommend.
Good
Very knowledgeable and a good listener.
Do to the complexity of my health & current health conditions, the doctor wants to hold off on any treatment until my health conditions have improved. It is hard for the doctor to determine if my problems are due to my current conditions. Things might improve if my current conditions improve that are non-GI related, but seem to affect my GI problems.
Very patient and understanding
This was my first meeting with him and I really liked him. He was thorough and took the time to listen to me and go over my history and issues.
He was awesome and gave me lots of options. The wait time was over a hour though
My first visit with him. He us very thourogh and offered many helpful suggestions.
