Biography

As section chief of geriatrics at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I have extensive experience in completing and supervising clinical evaluations of older adults in a variety of clinical care settings. My academic background is in health services research and program development – both serve as the foundation of my expertise in chronic disease epidemiology, clinical case adjudication, as well as survey and Medicare claims-based data analysis. I have been a co-investigator on the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) since 2012, where I explored the complex relationship between cardiovascular comorbidity and the presence of geriatric syndromes (such as falls, cognitive impairment) in health outcomes. I have been a co-investigator with faculty in the departments of Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Hematology-Oncology, Neurology, and in the schools of Nursing, Public Affairs, Public Health, and Social Work.

Patient Comments

Melissa Smith and Tanya Gure were filling in for Sarah Hermans. They did not read my chart before coming into the exam room and seemed reserved and assuming concerning my health care and my reluctance to taking GLP-1 drugs for diabetes. Melissa Smith asked me why was I there making me feel out of place. Tanya Gure treated me like a nucance saying she know I did my homework or research. Based on her note in my chart, she did not listen to everything I said.
