As a former pediatrician at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, I had the opportunity to receive training in the diagnoses and treatment of allergic disorders. It was my experience with allergists at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and the U.S. Air Force allergy training program that made me feel passionate about this subspecialty.
I give the same care and attention to my patients as I did with children and their families when I was a pediatrician. I enjoy helping patients understand what we know (and don’t know) about their condition, the limitations of testing, and the use of medications and non-medication treatments. I listen to their concerns, gather relevant history, order any necessary tests and partner with the patient to determine a personalized treatment plan.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center stands out because of the institution’s long-standing history of education, research and patient care as well as its community involvement and way of practically applying translational research to patient care. While working here, I would love to get involved in research relating to allergic rhinitis, venom allergy and/or allergy education. I’m also fascinated by immunomodulation, the possibility to change the immune system to be less reactive to allergens such as environmental (dog, cat, dust mite), pollens and venom.
From 2015 to 2020, I was the only allergist working for Licking Memorial Health Systems, a community hospital in Newark, Ohio, with a primary role as a hospitalist pediatrician. I supported the idea of creating an allergy clinic there, training allergy nurses and treating a variety of allergic and immunologic conditions.
Outside of the workplace, I’m also involved on a national level with Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA), primarily with Women Physicians in Christ (WPC), as well as with several national medical associations. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling on medical missions, camping, being a 4-H advisor, and getting involved with my children’s extracurricular activities.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

I was very happy with my visit with Dr. Owen's. 45 minutes of uninterrupted time discussing my illness and possible solutions. She never seemed in hurry although I imagine my appointment put her behind.
All good
Interested in my health condition. Answers all my questions and discusses most up to date treatments available for my condition.
Dr. Owen is organized in her thinking and great at explaining difficult concepts and rationale for treatment
Excellent excellent care provider
I saw a student and the main provider. All were great.
Best doctor for understanding and helping patients.
My provider is the best. She listens to all my questions and concerns and answers and explains all of them. I feel she is on top of my health issues.
The Dr. Was nice- she just didn't have any way to really help me with what I came in for.
Good
She was absolutely amazing and made me feel like I mattered and the heath concerns I had were just that, concerns. She came up with a plan with me and for me and listened to all my concerns.
