About Me
As a former pediatrician at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, I had the opportunity to receive training in the diagnoses and treatment of allergic disorders. It was my experience with allergists at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and the U.S. Air Force allergy training program that made me feel passionate about this subspecialty.
I give the same care and attention to my patients as I did with children and their families when I was a pediatrician. I enjoy helping patients understand what we know (and don’t know) about their condition, the limitations of testing, and the use of medications and non-medication treatments. I listen to their concerns, gather relevant history, order any necessary tests and partner with the patient to determine a personalized treatment plan.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center stands out because of the institution’s long-standing history of education, research and patient care as well as its community involvement and way of practically applying translational research to patient care. While working here, I would love to get involved in research relating to allergic rhinitis, venom allergy and/or allergy education. I’m also fascinated by immunomodulation, the possibility to change the immune system to be less reactive to allergens such as environmental (dog, cat, dust mite), pollens and venom.
From 2015 to 2020, I was the only allergist working for Licking Memorial Health Systems, a community hospital in Newark, Ohio, with a primary role as a hospitalist pediatrician. I supported the idea of creating an allergy clinic there, training allergy nurses and treating a variety of allergic and immunologic conditions.
Outside of the workplace, I’m also involved on a national level with Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA), primarily with Women Physicians in Christ (WPC), as well as with several national medical associations. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling on medical missions, camping, being a 4-H advisor, and getting involved with my children’s extracurricular activities.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Owens has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Dr. Owens was the best healthcare provider I have seen concerning my specific condition
Fantastic
Got to the reason for the visit immediately. Gave good information and listened to my thoughts and concerns.
Dr . Owens is wonderful
Good
I have never loved a doctor after a first meeting as much as I loved Dr. Owens. She took the time to listen and explain, let me make my own decisions but also confirmed what I thought. I am so grateful for her expertise and personability.
She was amazing! She was very through and thoughtful on how to resolve my medical concern. She spent a lot of time with me asking great questions, providing great insights, and a great plan forward. She was so great that I plan to transition my family members to see her also.
She was excellent. Thorough and caring. I would highly recommend her.
Dr Owen's listened intently to what I had to say. She asked follow up questions to help understand my specific conditions. I could sense her trouble-shooting through a process of elimination or probability analysis. She was very transparent with her assessment. She did a great job discussing alternatives and what I could expect.
Listens and cares
SHE ALWAYS ANSWERS ALL MY QUESTIONS FULLY AND WITH RESPECT.
Dr. Owens is absolutely amazing. She listens and works with you to develop a plan of action. Best coach ever!!
She is spot on with my history
She is always very thorough. She listens to all my concerns. Explains everything to understand. Great doctor, very professional, kind, caring.
Without Dr. Owens' willingness to confer with my infection dr. and pulmonary dr. I would not be in as good health as I have been the past year. I am so thankful for willingness to go beyond her knowledge and specialty and give me the care that turned my health and life around. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Owens.
Dr. Owens was great. Listened to all concerns & scenarios. She, appropriately, thought outside the box.
Did not explain what I was being tested for
She's always a good listener & caring.
I have never had a bad experience.
Good experi.
Dr. Owens is great - very positive attitude and listens well.
Attentive, patient
This was a first time appointment. I shared with her and the nurse/assistant that I was here to determine if my symptoms were due to allergies or the glaucoma meds or something else. The doctor introduced herself, did an exam and shared info regarding the allergy testing that was done that day. She understood that I had glaucoma and had researched the drug that was not contraindicated by my condition. She clarified with me the type of glaucoma I had and recommended that I check with my ophthalmologist first to make sure it would not cause any adverse effects before picking up the rx. I shared that I would like to transfer to this location and she did a referral for me.
Very nice and informative.
Dr. Owens is an excellent doctor. She has looked deeply into my immune system and health. The last visit was to make sure that I am protected from several of the childhood diseases and has helped me to move forward with pneumonia and shingles vaccines.
Dr. Owens is a great doctor. Good listener & communicator. She really wants to help and cares.
