Biography
I am Tonya Schmauder, LISW, PMH-C, a licensed independent social worker (LISW) with the Women’s Behavioral Health Program at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health and specialize in providing compassionate, patient-centered behavioral healthcare to women across their life span.
I specialize in identifying and treating mental health concerns during the prenatal and postpartum periods as well as for those patients who are experiencing difficulty related to fertility struggles, issues with their menstrual cycle, adjusting to the stress of parenthood, stressors from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and from pregnancy or infant loss. My approach to treatment is grounded in developing strong therapeutic relationships and partnering with patients to identify strategies that support emotional well-being, resilience and long-term mental health. I am committed to providing evidenced-based, individualized care that meets patients where they are and helps them achieve meaningful improvements in their quality of life.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Tonya Schmauder has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
