About Me
I’m a board-certified neurosurgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in the surgical treatment of conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas, stroke, atherosclerotic disease and more. I can treat these complex neurosurgical conditions in both an open and endovascular manner, allowing me to provide exceptional and tailored care to each patient’s condition. I strive to improve quality of life and restore function for patients with vascular neurological disorders.
My approach to care is centered on precision, compassion, and collaboration. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each patient receives a personalized treatment plan that reflects their unique needs and goals. Whether managing a chronic condition or addressing an urgent or emergent surgical need, I strive to provide clear communication and support every step of the way. I feel it is important for patients to advocate for their medical care and take part in medical decision making.
I am a Buckeye for life as I completed my undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, earned my medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed my residency in Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I then pursued fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in open and endovascular neurosurgery. I am board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Schunemann has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
