OSU NISONGER DENTAL PROGRAM HONORED FOR HIGH-QUALITY PATIENT CARE
The Ohio State University Nisonger Dental Program's Johnstown Road Dental Clinic was named a 2013 Safety Net Solutions Center of Excellence by the DentaQuest Institute for its commitment to providing high-quality care to patients, displaying leadership and excellence in practice management and improving the oral health of its community. More specifically, the Nisonger Dental Program is being honored for expanding its mission to serve young low-income children and developmentally disabled children by increasing the number of patient visits and completing more patient treatment plans. The Nisonger Center Dental Program is the largest provider of oral health services for adults with developmental disabilities in Franklin County. The Safety Net Solutions program partners with dental clinics across the country serving uninsured and underinsured populations to provide customized technical assistance and practice management counseling. Since 2010, the Institute has honored up to five programs each year that have improved access and quality of health care.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HEALTH BOARD INDUCTS OHIO STATE BRAIN INJURY EXPERT
John D. Corrigan, PhD, professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, was sworn in as a member of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Health Board Neurological/Behavioral Health Subcommittee. The Neurological/Behavioral Health Subcommittee serves as an external advisory body for research and operational policy regarding psychological health and disorders of the body's nervous system. The subcommittee’s scope includes the prevention, recognition, clinical management, and treatment of psychological/mental health issues and neurological symptoms or conditions among military service members and family caregivers. Corrigan has received local and national awards for his service and research in the field of brain injury rehabilitation, including the Brain Injury Association of America’s William Fields Caveness Award and the 2007 Robert L.
