About Me

I'm an academy professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University. I serve as the director of the Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation. I also direct the Ohio Brain Injury Program, the lead agency in the State of Ohio for policy and planning related to living with brain injury.

I have received local and national awards for my service and research in the field of brain injury rehabilitation, including the Gold Key Award from the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Brain Injury Association of America’s William Fields Caveness Award and the 2007 Robert L. Moody Prize. I'm a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and the American Psychological Association.

I received my doctoral degree in psychology at Ohio State before joining the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, first as a postdoctoral trainee and later as a member of the faculty. I'm board certified in rehabilitation psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Since 1997, I have been the principal investigator and co-principal investigator for the Ohio Regional Traumatic Brain Injury Model System, a multicenter, longitudinal research program funded by the National Institute on Disability Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research. For 10 years, I chaired the Executive Committee of the TBI Model Systems Project Directors. I'm editor-in-chief of the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation. I'm a member of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of America. I previously served on the Advisory Committee to the National Center on Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Defense Health Board Neurological/Behavioral Health Subcommittee and the Board of Directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

I have published more than 195 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters. I have attracted almost $40 million in research and demonstration grants from state, federal and private funding sources. I'm a frequent invited speaker at national and international conferences.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Corrigan has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
