The new Residential Treatment Program can house up to 15 men and women at Talbot Hall, located at 1441 Phale D. Hale Dr. in Columbus.

This hospital-based program is the only one of its kind in Ohio. It offers a safe, supportive environment for those in recovery.

“Since 1974, our Talbot Hall Addiction Services team has played a pivotal role in leading thousands of Ohioans to recovery. We’re proud to offer this new care option for our patients,” said Amanda Lucas, executive director of Ohio State East Hospital, Harding Hospital and Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital.
The residential unit treatment team includes physicians, nurses, counselors, recreational therapists, certified peer supporters and patient care associates. Residents can stay for up to 30 days.
“The demand for behavioral health and addiction care in Ohio is rising, with projections indicating a 15% increase in substance use treatments,” said Julie Teater, MD, psychiatrist and addiction medicine physician and medical director of Talbot Hall. “Each year more than 1,200 patients are treated at Talbot Hall for inpatient detoxification, along with more than 5,000 patients in various outpatient settings.”
The Talbot Hall residential treatment program features written exercises, group therapy, role playing and discussion along with recreational therapy exercises.
“Our program uses Hazelden’s Living in Balance model, which is an evidence-based program that has a strong emphasis on relapse prevention,” said Mohamad Moinzadeh, director of Talbot Hall. “We focus on teaching our patients how to live a sober lifestyle.”
