COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the 34th consecutive year, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is one of the best hospitals in the nation, according to the 2026 – 2027 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings.

The report released today lists Ohio State Wexner Medical Center as the No. 1 adult hospital in Columbus and second in Ohio after the Cleveland Clinic.

There are 4,400 eligible hospitals in the United States, but only the top hospitals are nationally ranked.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Ohio State among the nation's best in five specialties of complex care: cancer, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and lung surgery, rehabilitation and rheumatology.

Ohio State is rated high performing in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery and geriatrics, which places these specialties in the top 10% of all rated hospitals.

U.S. News & World Report also evaluates how well hospitals perform certain procedures and treat common illnesses. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating performed better than the national average. Ohio State is rated high performing in 15 out of 24 common procedures and conditions. They are:
